What a great way to see the new year in on the Glos & Warks Railways end of season running day with SR Merchant Navy 35006 P&O Line, and its fellow Toddington stable mates GWR tank 4270 and BR Syphon 37215 on a cracking winters sunny day. In fact the day was an extra interesting one as it saw the last run of GWR 2-8-0T 4270 before having a major overhaul, this engine had its own gathering of fans line siding and riding behind the loco. This wasn't the only item that was going for an overhaul as halfway through the day my trusty Nikon 18 to 300mm DX telephoto lens seized solid on 105mm stopping me from using a wider angle, so I used my Camera phone I'd say to good but colourful effect. In the morning before this happened, we chatted to a pleasant couple in Vintage Period dress who let us take their photo and said its ok to use in any publication. The Volunteers on the Glos and Warks did a splendid job of making us welcome, especially with the Buffet cars serving plenty of mince pies coffee and ale. Enjoy the pictures
