Gloucestershire and Warwickshire Railway Mixed Traction Gala 29 and 30-10-2022.

The Gala saw an intensive timetable with steam, diesel, and double-heading, non-stop, top-and-tailing and a goods train. The highlight feature was two of the most powerful locomotives from both the steam and diesel camps, Class 55 'Deltic' no. 55019 Royal Highland Fusilier and Merchant Navy pacific no. 35006 Peninsular & Oriental Steam Navigation Co. Each was a champion of the crack express services on their respective lines: The Class 55 ably handling non-stop services between Kings Cross and Edinburgh such as the 'Flying Scotsman', while the Merchant Navy hauled services between Waterloo and the West Country such as the 'Atlantic Coast Express'. This Gala was the last chance to see the Class 55 Deltic in action in the Cotswolds as it will leave the railway shortly after the event. Three Cheers to the Gloucestershire and Warwickshire Railway for pulling out all the stops to put on such a brilliant event.
