Gloucestershire Vintage & Country Extravaganza at South Cerney 4th and 6th -8-2023.

The annual show in 2023 returned stronger than ever run by volunteers from Friday August 4 to Sunday August 6th Showcasing vintage displays of 100's of classic cars from pre and post war, including Classic American cars, plus literally hundreds of motorbikes and scooters, bicycles from the early 1900s to the modern era. One of the main attractions as always are the full size and miniature Traction engines and Steam rollers, and Stationary engines. Also the stands and areas showcase model engineering and displays of Vintage and Classic buses and coaches, some of which you can ride on around the site!, Military vehicles, Emergency and Commercial vehicles, Industrial trucks, and vintage caravans. Many highlights are captured in our photos from wood sawing with steam and diesel power, an unusual sight, but a regular visitor to this show, was an ex-steam ploughing and dredging engine that in the 1950's was converted to diesel by mounting a Damier-Benz truck engine on top of its defunct boiler, the owner, see photo, explained to us how a firm in Loughborough converted 15 such road locomotives for dredging use. The showground also has arenas that show a constant stream of live Steam traction to Falconry and many other exciting activities. A vintage fairground, live music and dancing also makes the show a brilliant place to spend the weekend whatever the weather. And What a difference a year makes! In 2022, we were in the middle of a dry and hot summer and the showground was very dusty as temperatures that weekend touched 26 degree's Centigrade (79 degree's Fahrenheit). Fast forward one year and it was a very different story! A wet start to August on the back of a wet July Friday was Ok , but "STORM ANTONI" brought 25mm (1inch) of rain on Saturday coupled with high winds, However Sunday proved a better day although there were some showers later on. So our 2023 show photos are a mix of Friday and Sunday's better weather. We and our Wings & Wheels Society Dursley say many thanks to the SVTEC team and all volunteers/exhibitors that work hard throughout the year to make this very special show happen, Cheers to you all, keep up the excellent work.
